Application Process

Standardized Tests:

Universities in New Zealand ask for a pre-requisite exam to test your ability in English Proficiency. Preferred English proficiency test is IELTS for almost all the universities. You should score minimum of 6.5 out of 9 in IELTS. Some universities may also accept TOEFL score.

Step by Step Procedure for Application Process:

1. Identifying universities and the course of your interest and request universities for application forms. Some universities ask for a processing fee.
2. Fill in the application form and send to desired department address including

  • SOP
  • RESUME
  • Recommendation Letters
  • Official score cards to be sent by ETS (gre/toefl)
  • Lletter from bank stating that student has enough funds for higher education
  • Mark sheets of all academic certificates
  • Affidavit of financial help (support by their parents)
  • Extracurricular activities certificates

3. Wait for the decision to be made by the university it might vary from university to university to issue an admission.
4. Generally international students should apply in advance for New Zealand universities for their i20.
5. Generally the university intake will be in February or early March.
6. In some cases the semester starts in July also.April/May are application deadlines for July intake.
7. Some universities offer summer school intake from November to February.

Estimated Cost:

The currency in New Zealand is New Zealand dollar. One New Zealand dollar = 0.5246 U.S. On an average tuition fees for post graduation would be NZ$40,000 per year. Estimated living expenses would be NZ$850 per month.
