You will need to have a valid passport and a visa in order to enter New Zealand. start the process of applying a passport as soon as possible since it can take several months to obtain a passport. The student visa fee is USD 110

VISA Checklist:

1. A recent passport-size photograph
2. Complete ‘Application for Student Visa’ Forms
3. Academic certificates and Mark sheets
4. Proof from a New Zealand education school or institution which states that you have been accepted by the school, the name of the course, the minimum time to complete the course and the course fee
5. Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the tuition fee and living and other expenses
6. Payment of a non-refundable visa application fee
7. Proof that have completed a TB clearance or medical and X-ray forms and police certificates (if required)
8. Proof of sufficient funds to pay the tuition fee and also evidence of funds to live in New Zealand while studying
9. IELTS/TOEFL Score cards

Proof Of Funds:

Proof of funds of only NZ$9800 to NZ$10000 per year of study should be shown.
Evidence of funds may be in the form of cash, travelers’ cheques, bank drafts, or a recognized credit card with enough credit.
To gain a student visa or permit the visa consulate see that you are able to meet your living costs during your stay.
Evidence may include:

  • enough money held in New Zealand by you, or on your behalf,
  • an undertaking by another person to cover your accommodation and living costs (visa consulate will see this before you leave for New Zealand),
  • an undertaking by a New Zealand sponsor to cover your accommodation and living costs, or
  • financial assistance available to you under aid programmers operated in New Zealand by a government agency

**The role of sponsor for your study in New Zealand: A sponsor is a third party, someone other than yourself who undertakes to meet the costs of your travel back home at the completion of your training, if necessary. Usually visa consulate require some form of written guarantee from your sponsor.

Medical Examination:

  • For courses longer than 24 months, you’ll also need to provide medical and x-ray certificates that are less than 3 months old. If you’re over 17, you’ll need a police certificate to show that you are of good character.
  • People applying for student visas or permits who intend spending more than 6 months in New Zealand must be screened for tuberculosis (TB) if they have NOT previously provided a full medical screening test to the Immigration New Zealand.
